In summer is hot here, but usually rains. So It would be a good idea to bring some light clothes and a jacket if it rains.

A lovely but unlucky animal.

Armadillos are one of the oldest mammals of South America. Tucked between hills and mountains, the Tatu Careta, is the largest of the armadillos that still survives. It measures from 1.50 to 1.60 m. long, including the tail. Weighs up to 60 kg. It has a strong shell and long claws that used to build its caves, also has the ability to hold their breath for six minutes.
It is a lonely animal and he feeds at night. His favourite foods are invertebrates like ants, spiders and worms, which obtains dismembering, destroying anthills or rotting logs.
Many people try to hunt these animals because their meat is rich in proteins. Also Its shell is used to make a southamerican musical instrument. But worst of all, there is an illegal traffic of hunters who take and sell them to collectionists, museums or zoos, and get money. For these reasons, they were disappearing and now there are some at zoos, natural reserves and rarely in the countryside.
This situation was considered and publicated in the book CITES, as a strictly protected species. A family from Salta found one of them and he was  envoy to Corrientes, people took care of him. In this areas they are protected from their worst enemy and greatest predator, the man.
